Manual Rivet gun

A manual rivet gun, also known as a hand riveter or a pop rivet gun, is a handheld tool used to join two or more pieces of material together using rivets. It operates by a simple hand-squeezing action, making it a portable and easy-to-use tool that doesn’t require electricity or compressed air.

How it Works

A manual rivet gun works by installing “blind rivets,” which are fasteners that can be set from one side of the material. The rivet consists of a hollow body and a thin shaft called a mandrel. The process involves:

1. Drilling a hole: A hole is pre-drilled through the materials being joined.
2. Inserting the rivet: The rivet is placed into the hole, with the mandrel extending out.
3. Using the gun: The nose piece of the rivet gun is placed over the mandrel. When you squeeze the handles, the tool pulls the mandrel, which in turn expands and deforms the rivet body on the blind side, creating a secure joint.
4. Snapping the mandrel: Once the rivet is fully set, the mandrel snaps off, leaving a clean, finished rivet head.
